Music Listening Project
In a few days time, I shall embark on a music listening project like I have done twice before involving songs or other pieces of organized noise that have strong associations to points in my past. I shall choose a few albums that were mainstays in different epochs of my life and write about the associations that emerge as different songs or other pieces of organized sound emerge from not exactly the niggulum but from another ethereal dimension.
As I wrote, I’ve done this twice before and both occasions can be found within the Martenblog. The subjects of these occasions were firstly The Church (all their albums that I had at the time on random play) and secondly Blue Öyster Cult (same methodology). I’m sure that if you, my gentle and mildly scabrous reader, care to find these associative elaborations, and you don’t kick aside the dried twigs resembling cuneiform that stretch for five Abilenes around your living corpse, you may do so using the Martenblog’s search functionality.
These are the albums I shall place on shuffle play during the stretch of the project:
- Pete Townshend All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes
- The Decemberists The Crane Wife
- Porcupine Tree Lightbulb Sun
- Phish The Story of the Ghost
- 2 Foot Yard
